Two army guys discuss the latest Oslo copycat shooter as they move in to stop his killing spree! Go! Go! Go! TRANSCRIPT: Soldier 1: We can't take any chances - if it moves shoot it I say! Since the Oslo shooting we've had all these crazy copy cats... What is it with some civvies and a gun, eh? Soldier 2: Beats me. It's like a shooting spree every five minutes now. Oslo had one helicopter to cover fifty thousand islands, and all pilots were off duty that day - unbelievable! Soldier 1: Well these jobs are for us, not the police. We're trained to deal with shooters. Your average shooter disses the police anyway, but when they see the army they break out in sweat Soldier 2: This shooter apparently says he's sick of burkas and head scarves and the liberal government th...

The state television network NRK estimated the crowd in Oslo to be up to 40,000 calling for Israelis and Palestinians to stop attacking each other and seek peace. There were also peaceful marches by thousands in other Norwegian cities. A pro-Israel demonstration of about 500 people turned ugly when several hundred young pro-Palestinian demonstrators began hurling rocks, bottles and fireworks toward police and Israeli supporters. A street preacher walk along the harbour of Oslo and think about his life and calling.

Welcome to Oslo, the capital city of Norway. Centuries ago, Viking longships prowled the waters around Norway. Some of those longships survived the ensuing years and found their way to the Viking Ship Museum, which is a must-see on any Oslo tour. The three longships on display here have been recovered from various parts of the country, and the museum also contains a number of artifacts from the Viking Age. Norway’s rich connection to the sea did not stop with the Vikings, though; just over a mile away from the Viking Ship Museum are several other educational complexes dedicated to the salt water that flows through Oslo’s veins. Visit the Norwegian Maritime Museum, the Kon-Tiki Museum, and the Fram Museum to get a fuller idea of Oslo’s seaborne heritage. While in town, stop by the Nobel...
Top Sightseeing locations to visit in Oslo, Norway. Including Downtown Oslo, The Royal Castle, museums, Vigelandsparken, Holmenkollen, and more. The exact locations are listed at the end of the description. The Oslo Opera: Do this one! The opera building is adjacent to the central station, and it's awesome. It's architecture is like walking on an iceberg, and it overlooks the Oslo fjord and Akershus Castle. Doesn't take much time. Karl Johans gate: The main walking street that connects Central Station (Oslo S) with the Royal Castle. I guess it's a must when you come to Oslo. You can't avoid it, and you shouldn't! Because it's the main street of Oslo. But Karl Johan is mostly for the tourists, beggars, scammers. People that live in Oslo, like me, hardly ever go there. Royal Castle:...

Travel video about destination Oslo in Norway. Although the Norwegian metropolis of Oslo is a modern city, it continues to be inspired by the lively spirit of its past traders, fighting men and seafarers. The unique capital city of the Vikings is full of both culture and sport, including a royal castle, various museums, ancient churches and world famous sporting events. It has 900 years of history. The conference rooms of the city's government are decorated with frescos and paintings by Munch, Krogh, Revold and Rolfsen and each year on the 10th of December, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel's death, the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony takes place. West of the harbor basin is Aker Brygge, a city quarter that was created on the site of a former shipyard and which features some unusual architectur...

Travel on the cheap in Oslo with these money-saving tips. It’s no surprise that Oslo is one of the most expensive cities in the world. But for savvy travelers, it doesn’t have to be. Here are my tricks and tips for traveling on the cheap in Norway's capital city. Download the Oslo Pass Before you even head to the airport, purchase and download the Oslo Pass app for your iphone or android device. Activate it once you arrive on a day you'd like to set aside for exploring the city's museums. The Oslo Pass is your ticket to get into more than 30 museums and galleries including some of my favorites, the Astrup Fearnley Museum, the National Gallery (home to Edvard Munch's infamous work "The Scream") and the Viking Ship Museum. The Oslo Pass also covers public transportation costs, which mak...

Grünerløkka is one of the most interesting neighborhoods in Oslo, a hipster paradise a 10 minute walk from Central Station. Surprisingly few tourists visit Grünerløkka, and that's really a pity. Some of the nicest cafes and bars in Oslo are located in Grünerløkka, and it's a foodies paradise. The main street of Grünerløkka is Thorvald Meyers gate. Thorvald Meyers gate starts where Ankerbrua brigde crosses Akerselva river, and ends at Birkelunden park in the north. Tram lines 11, 12 and 13 have three stops along Thorvald Meyers gate. From south to north: Schous plass Olaf Ryes plass Birkelunden Most of the shops, bars, restaurants and cafes on Grünerløkka are located around the Birkelunden and Olaf Ryes plass parks, and in the segment of Thorvald Meyers gate that is connecting them. The...

Search service, price service, risk service – when you model them as services, you end up with a tangled web of dependencies between them and almost all the other services in your system – a horrible distributed monolith. There’s a reason for that – they were never meant to be services in the first place. Join Udi for a blast from the past looking at how rules engines can fit in the missing dimension of your Microservice architectures. Things will look very, very different.

Talk by Jesselyn Radack at the Norwegian conference "Public Calling", hosted by KORO - Public Art Norway and the Fritt Ord Foundation, at the National Theatre, Oslo, 1 & 2 November 2016. About the conference: Public Calling examines the increasingly unsettled and contentious status of public space and freedom of speech in a world defined by the responses to 9/11 and July 22, 2011 in Norway, and the growing list of comparable events elsewhere in the world. The National Theatre was inaugurated in 1899 with Henrik Ibsen’s, An Enemy of the People, in which a truth-telling whistleblower is increasingly isolated and disempowered by the establishment and his community. Taking this cue, all participants in the conference come together on the main stage–surrounded by vacant seats where silent on...
